The Gospel: The Extreme Need Of The World

Mark 16:15-20

By Pastor Jose B. Cabajar

A sharp-eyed person who carefully scans the world will surely realize the disturbing condition of human race. As he sees young and old people craving for peace and unity, his eyes will be drawn for an even closer look. The many faces of war which surface all over man's domain will make him think that peace-keeping is a tough balancing act. And then gradually, the world's well-desired hope will appear to him as dark silhouette afar ready to vanish from his sight.

Escalating hatred, injustice and deep poverty are among the consequences of unsolved needs of mankind. Apparently, such monsters of the ages are unconquerable by weapons of war. Considering the claim that the modern world has been evolving in many ways for the betterment of the populace, still, the major problem of the world could not be solved through man's wisdom.

From time to time, our souls may be stirred up by hope-dimming news we are hearing here and there, and tears of compassion may flow down from our eyes. Imprinted images of man's wretchedness will surely affect our mind and squeeze our tender heart, but thank God because He has touched us that we may see that deep need of man so He could use us to be a blessing to others.

Through the Word of God, we realize the truth of life, and we strongly believe that silver and gold could never save the world. Indeed, the world needs the Word. In Mark 16:15-16, it is written, And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (KJV)

Undeniably, souls are dying and the world cannot afford to meet the greatest need of its inhabitants, but we praise God because we have the Good News from above. Truly, the Gospel is the extreme need of the world and he who receives it by faith and with gladness will surely enjoy the amazing grace of God not for a mere span of time but for eternity.

The Ultimate Solution To Human's Greatest Need

Mark 16:15-16

-Salvation of soul

Man is always searching for a quick solution to his worst problem, but could not find satisfactory solution from this chaotic world. The reason why? A natural man thinks carnal and he only focuses his mind on his physical survival not knowing that hell is about to claim his soul. In Mark 8:36-37, it is written, For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (KJV) What an enlightening truth from the Savior of the world. Man's life is more than physical life.

In Matthew 4:3-4, it is written, And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. (KJV) Through these passages, we could realize that the tempter put much focus on the physical existence of man, but the Lord Jesus reproved him and gave emphasis on man's spiritual survival. Certainly, God wants people to be saved. He wants us to seek Him first and His righteousness, then He will take care of our earthly needs.

Without the Gospel of Christ, there will be no Good News for a fallen human race. We thank God for His Son who came into the world to die at Calvary for us sinners. Through faith in Him, we could really enjoy His great salvation. In I Peter 1:8-9, it is written, Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. (KJV)

The Vital Role Of The Gospel Bearers

Mark 16:15-20

-The Believers' God-given task

Every Christian has a vital role in spreading the Gospel of Christ. The Great Commission is a God-given task not only for pastors and missionaries but for all Christians to carry on. Every believer must be aware that getting involved in global evangelization is an honor and a privilege. Christians should not be ashamed of telling people that Jesus saves.

In Romans 1:16, Paul wrote, For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (KJV) What an encouraging passage every believer must apply. Christians must not hesitate to support the World Missions Program, but should become more supportive through prayers, financial contribution and physical involvement in the mission field.

The early Disciples of Christ unquestionably preached the Gospel with diligence, and through their faith and obedience to the command of the Lord, countless people got saved. We thank God we are the living and visible evidence of God's great grace.

In Mark 16:20, it is written, And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. (KJV) We really believe that millions of people from all walks of life will be saved if true Christians will give their best support to the spreading of the Gospel of Christ.

Christians must be prayerful and consistent in their goal to evangelize the lost and dying world. Consider what Apostle Paul wrote in II Corinthians 4:3-5, But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. (KJV) The Gospel should not be hid. It should be preached at all cost.

The Power Of God In Global Evangelization

Mark 16:19-20      Matthew 28:18-20

-Beyond man's imagination

Telling the lost that salvation is through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is an exciting and rewarding mission. Knowing that we are on the Lord's side and the Holy Ghost is working in our lives, we must be more enthusiastic in our service to God.

In Matthew 28:18-20, it is written, And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (KJV) Truly, our Master is all-powerful and He assures us of His power and abiding presence at all times.

The Gospel is the extreme need of the world. Christians, don't be weary - keep on supporting, praying and reaching the world with the Gospel of Christ at all cost!
