The Undeniable Power Of God

Text: Acts 4:13-14   IBCSWS   IBC 18th Anniversary   May 7, 2006

Preacher: Pastor Jose B. Cabajar

Down the ages, God's awesome works have been witnessed by both believers and unbelievers alike. As a result, many believed and glorified God, but many people also doubted and questioned the authenticity of the miracles. In Acts Chapter 3, the Bible tells us about a lame man who was healed miraculously and the incident became an object of heated discussion because many religious leaders believed not the healing power of God through the Apostles' lives. In Acts 4:7-10, it is written, And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this? Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. (KJV)

Today, in the so called Modern World, many people from all walks of life obviously doubt the miracles of the Lord and they even question the authority of the Bible. Some of them are writers, teachers and eloquent speakers, and through their good connection and access to media, they have the advantage to publish their anti-Bible views and articles unhindered.

The Bible warns us about false teachers so we may not be deceived and be led to apostasy. Apparently, people who question Christ's miracles are surfacing like mushrooms everywhere and many are being led and being victimized by their impressive but deceitful words.

It seems that a lot of professing believers today are becoming materialistic and more interested on secular rather than spiritual matters. The enticements of the world are snatching their hearts from the Word and as a sad result, they fail to demonstrate the power of God through their lives. As we study the undeniable power of God through the lives of the Apostles, may we be inspired to live a pure life so we may not lose our privilege to demonstrate the power of God through our lives.

In I Peter 2:12, it is written, Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. (KJV) A godly life is a God-powered life. True believers should not let ungodly people to belittle and speak against them as evildoers. Keep in mind that true believers have the capacity to excel and show the undeniable power of God.

                      (I) Could Be Seen In The Believers' Lives

     Acts 4:1-11

     -Through Christian service

     -Through spreading of the Gospel

Christian service should be a reasonable part of a believer's life. No matter how young or how old a Christian may be, he has the opportunity to serve the Living Savior. Believers who have no Christian service are easy victims of the devil. The adversary could easily manipulate and usher them to an ungodly lifestyle. Consequently, their lives could hardly shine for the Lord.

Peter and John were ordinary men but they had the willingness to follow the Lord's steps. Their lives were well-spent for the Lord Jesus Christ. In the secular realm, they were not the kind of men counted as well-educated, rich and powerful, and yet God used them marvelously because of their unquestionable faith and love for the Lord. In Acts Chapter 3, we could see how God used them in healing the lame man. The man expected to receive something from them, but Peter said, "Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk." The man received strength and he stood, walked and entered with them into the temple walking, leaping and praising God. Truly, the power of God could be displayed through the lives of faithful believers.

In Acts Chapter 4, the Bible tells us how God used the Apostles in spreading the Word of God tremendously regardless of the hindrances they had been encountering. In verse 4, it is written, Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand. (KJV) What a manifestation of the power of God through His children!

We could not imagine how powerful our ministries would be today and the number of people who would be led to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ if only believers would take heed of the calling of God and truly use the power of the Holy Ghost. Beyond the shadow of doubt, the undeniable power of God would be demonstrated in the believers' lives.

(II) Could Be Experienced Through Faith In Christ

      Acts 4:13-22

-Faith shows the power of God

-Doubt reveals man's negative attitude toward God

Jaw-dropping sights are mind-stirring. In fact, God''s wonderful acts through His servants are mind-stirring. When the lame man was miraculously healed, the people were greatly wondering. In Acts 3:12-16, it is written, And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk? The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses. And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all. (KJV) Studying these verses will make us realize that without God's working, we cannot do any astounding acts, but through faith in Christ nobody could hinder us in showing the power of God.

Through faith in Christ, a sinner could be saved and enjoy the manifold blessings of God. Through strong faith in Christ, our spiritual identity becomes distinct, our presence becomes powerful and the undeniable power of God through us will stop the mouth of those who are against us.

In Acts 4:13-16, it is written, Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it. (KJV)

Who could hinder and deny the power of God? Through Christ, the victory is ours! Through faith in Him, the Lord will surely bless the works of our hands. In Acts 4:21, it is written, So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done. (KJV) With boldness and confidence, we could conclude that the power of the Almighty God will remain visible and undeniable through our lives and our ministries if we have the pure desire to glorify His blessed Name in truth. Keep on serving the Lord Jesus Christ, keep on praising God!
